Understanding Matcha Grades: Ceremonial vs. Culinary

Matcha is broadly classified into ceremonial and culinary grades:

Ceremonial Grade: Made from tender young leaves, vibrant green, smooth in flavor. Ideal for traditional tea ceremonies and mindful sipping.

Culinary Grade: Slightly more robust and slightly bitter, perfect for cooking, baking, and blending into drinks.

At Fanji, our Black Can 30g is triple-certified (USDA, EU, JAS) ceremonial grade, ensuring purity and the finest flavor. The White Can 50g is EU-certified, excellent for everyday matcha drinks and recipes.

Tip: Always store matcha in a cool, dark, airtight container and consume within one month of opening to preserve its vivid color and aroma.

Knowing your matcha grade elevates your experience — from your first whisk to your daily ritual.
